This is the second time I have written about my experience with the Irish medium, Mary Maddison. I visited her for the first time in 2015, and it was a highlight of my trip to Ireland. Mary and I had so much in common. She learned to read the stones from her grandmother just as I learned to read the cards from my mine. Both our grandmothers were Irish of course! In the picture below Mary is standing with the yellow green vest.
I traveled to Ireland to paint. Besides a medium, I am also an artist. I stayed at an artist retreat called Anam Cara. The meaning of Anam Cara is soul home. It is a beautiful place in the Southwest area of Ireland just outside the village of Eyeries. Many writers and artists go there for retreats. They take care of all of your needs making it possible for guests to concentrate on their art or writing.
I had another reading with Mary plus she offered our group the opportunity to attend one of her storytelling sessions. Mary is what the Irish call a Bard or expert storyteller! One evening a group of people gathered in a small house on her property. This house is her Shell house because it is where she keeps a collection of shells numbering in the thousands. Every wall is covered with shelves filled with shells.
Mary started telling stories--- all spontaneously from her memory. The stories have been collected over the years and were marvelous. She had everyone laughing. She opened up the floor asking if we would like to share our stories but only a few were brave enough to tell their stories. Americans are not used to this form of entertainment, but I can tell you from my own experience, I truly enjoyed every minute.
Mary built a meditation pyramid on her gorgeous property. I’ve attached a picture so you can see what it looks like. It is a very powerful place to connect with spirit.
Mary is about seventy years old but has the energy of a younger person. I was told that she regularly goes to dances and this is another form of entertainment in the small villages of Ireland. I was told she can drive from the little village of Eyeries to Cork faster than anybody else in the village!
She raises miniature ponies, chickens, and beautiful peacocks. Every part of her property is unique. Our group painted on her property. I will share some of these delightful pictures.
I went to her cottage for my reading. Reading stones is a form of divination like reading cards or tea leaves. Mary also hears spirit. It makes sense that Mary reads the stones as she lives on the sacred land of Ireland with a history of ancient stone circles, passage tombs, and fairy trees! The picture below is a window in her reading room.
Each stone holds a unique vibration and meaning and therefore a story. Mary began my reading by asking me to put my feet into buckets of little crystals. Most of the stones were no larger than the tip of my little finger. I buried my feet in the buckets.
Then she asked me to choose about 40 stones and line them up in rows. I don’t remember the exact number but there were about 6 -8 stones per row and about five rows. Each row represents one month. She began my reading after I had chosen the stones beginning with July. She gave me an assessment of what to expect from July through the beginning of next year. She saw Saint Germain of course and as you can imagine I chose lots of his stone-- the purple amethyst. She also saw Moses during the month of July and the possibility of a monetary grant. She told me I would be looking for something in August and I must follow my intuition. I chose the serpentine stone and she told me that I should open my eyes to a new situation. In October I picked up the blood stone and she said it was a sign of Christ. I also picked up a fossil with a fish on it and she counseled me to go with the flow. There is a stone called unicite. She mentioned that it has to do with nature and art. When I chose carnelian she thought that perhaps I was a good talker.
After she had looked at the rows of stones she started bringing through members of my family on the other side. One of the most interesting parts of my reading was the mention of someone named Denny. I told her I didn’t know anybody by that name but then it occurred to me suddenly it was my husband’s identical twin brother who died a few years ago. She mentioned him in relation to oranges. When I arrived home I asked my husband about the oranges. During the reading this meant nothing to me. He said there was always a lot of kidding when they were kids because they all had red hair and everyone used say they looked like orange heads!
At the end of the reading Mary asked me to take my feet out of the pails. She read the stones still attached to the bottom of my feet. This was very interesting. A few days after the reading and at least two showers later I found one of the stones still stuck between my toe!!! I brought it home to Ohio and placed it in my little crystal dish on my desk thinking that it probably had some significance since it stuck to my toes for two full days?
Another postscript about crystals and stones-- I discovered a number of years ago that not all the stones in my own collection resonate with me. One day I was using my pendulum and decided to see if the pendulum would tell me which stones were connected to me energetically. For some of the stones I received a clear no and others a clear yes. I used the pendulum on my complete collection and separated the stones which resonated with my energy from the ones that did not. I retained the strong crystals on my desk and the others I hid away.
I hope you enjoy this post. If any of you are planning to go to Ireland and would like to see Mary you can email me and I will share her contact information. Blessings, Jane
